delicious*ness*

Today I received the most lovely email with a photo of one of my plates with a tantalizing piece of pie atop it. It inspired me to share some of the photos other people have taken of my pieces once they have become their own.

*

This is the one I got today from Tim.

Pie on my pear plate. Yum!

*

And Amisha, you're killing me with the cupcakes.

Yowza!

*

Natasha's talented and busy fingers makes all these lovely paper beads that are so elegantly spilling out of one of my bowls

Boy this makes me smile.

*

I call them tea bowls but Martha uses hers for yogurt.

Okay, I am hungry now.

*

I get such a kick out of these photos and
I really love being a part of peoples lives in this way.

Thank you so much for sharing them with me.

a little help from my friends

12"x10" oval platter with swallow and red poppy

I had a recent house (& studio) guest stay with me this past week. I thought it would be fun to mix it up with the photographs and add a new "live" element and Wilfredo kindly obliged. He even dawned his lovely stripey sweater for the photo shoot. I do think he might of been bit disappointed that the above platter was not filled with doggy kibble.

The platter along with many other new items will be going off Swallow Gallery in Brooklyn.

Happy weekend friends!

20 November 2007

let the holidays begin!

Come and join Josie, Rae, Susannah, John and me in four weekends of Holiday sales at 4th & clay in Berkeley! Yes folks in between the solo shows and filling wholesale and special orders, I am participating in four weekends of Holiday sales at the new 4th & clay studio in Berkeley. Yippee!

There are plenty of weekends to come and see what I have been up to so no complaining about me only having a one day sale (which is my usual M.O.) and that you couldn't make it...The only excuse I might accept is that you live in another country and it was hard to get a flight. I will be selling the usual suspects and some unusual ones too (things never seen before!) But you'll have to come and see for yourself.

*Here are the details*

Holiday Studio Sale
4th & clay
2390 4th Street @ Channing
Berkeley, California

11 a.m to 6 p.m.

November 24th & 25th
December 1st & 2nd
December 8th & 9th
December 15th & 16th

P.S. The Grand Opening Party will be on Friday November 30th from 7 until 10 pm. There will be live music, fun & ceramics for all.

good times at the candystore

First things first a big thank you to everyone who came out to my show on Thursday evening. So many people had a difficult time finding parking and I so appreciate you all sticking it out to show your support. It was such a fun evening. The babushkas flew out the door. I can't wait to have my first random babushka sighting!

I did a lot of talking about my new work which felt a little strange as I have been so involved in the making of the drawings that my thoughts on what they are about haven't completely gelled yet. I woke up the next morning with a very scratchy voice.

I think the drawings were hung too high (though they look so nice where they are) and the lights were reflecting off of the glass so it was kind of hard to see them up close (especially for short people). Sorry about that. There are plans to move the drawings to a different location in the store so that they will be easier to see.

Friends and family showed up and also a lot of people whom I had not met before.
(It was so nice to meet you!)

Last but most definitely not least a big thank you to my buddy Lisa, who in the midst of her insanely busy schedule took time out to help me hang the show and was not only the most excellent photographer for the evening but also the most stylish in her folk inspired outfit!

28 June 2007

I am feeling a little badly these days...Have I been neglecting you? I have been kind of absent lately, haven't I ? The reason being I have been so busy making way too much work for the upcoming ACGA show on July 7th & 8th. I have this vision of piles of bowls, plates, platters and large groupings of vases. Everything stacked sky high and clustered together! I think my vision will be realized but it makes me a bad blogger for it.

The moon is starting to get full and I am in one of those wild eyed moods and my brain is on fire. I have been also obsessively been thinking about my upcoming show, that will be in November, at the Candy Store here in San Francisco. That may seem like a long time away, god forbid thinking about November in lovely June...but that is the way it is with this slow and tedious medium, we have to think way ahead of the game. I am kinda crawling out of my skin with my ideas for the show. Suffice to say it will be thematic with some color restrictions except for red! I'll keep you posted on its development as the time comes closer. Speaking of the Candy Store, my friend Annie Galvin is having a show there of 100 of her paintings and the opening is tonight from six until nine. Rumor has it margarita's will be served (we love rumors, don't we, especially when they are about margaritas!)

Also my very dear friend, confidant and most admired ceramic artist and business woman, Laura Zindel, will be my next guest blogger! You will want to check back for her post, she will be covering a topic which I think everyone will find very interesting. Plus we get to see some of Laura's gorgeous work as well. Oh and I can't leave out one more opening that you should definitely check out if you are in the area. My very good friend and partner in crime and crazy adventures, Jeanne Lorenz (think the two of us riding to Death Valley on her 1976 Honda 450 back when we were Art School students in 1992), is having a show at Bucheon Gallery which opens tomorrow, Friday June 29th. Jeanne is an amazing painter and the show is sure to be a good one. Hope to see you there!

what inspires you

three small shallow bowls 8"x8"x3"

After a fabulous weekend away I am home with some new inspiration and load of work to finish before the weeks end. I had some enlightening conversations with this lovely bird about life and the creative spirit and what we can do to encourage it in everyone. Here is something that inspires me. What inspires you?

Thank you Ayumi and Renee for your guest posts! It is such a joy to have friends to share with in this creative journey.
